Frequently asked questions

1

What kind of device is the SurfaceCleaner-100?

The SurfaceCleaner-100 is a device the size of a letterbox, which is attached to a wall and connected to a water tap. By preparing the tap water via electrolysis, a highly-effective liquid for cleaning and disinfection – called SC-water – is produced.

SC-water is produced on demand within seconds and can be taken and filled directly into any container using a nozzle.

2

What size is the SurfaceCleaner-100?

The main component of the SurfaceCleaner-100, which is attached to a wall, is 400/220/550 mm (l/w/h). The softener, which is connected to the main component via flexible hoses, is 320/520/670 mm (l/w/h) and is placed on the ground below main component.

3

Which conditions are needed for SurfaceCleaner-100 to be installed?

The SurfaceCleaner-100 can be installed anywhere there is a load-bearing wall, a fixed level floor, a tap water inlet and an electrical connection.

4

Is there a need for special electrical connection to install a SurfaceCleaner-100?

No, a SurfaceCleaner-100 may be plugged directly into a normal socket with 230 V AC and does not need any special connection.

5

Which operating materials are needed for the SurfaceCleaner-100?

A SurfaceCleaner-100 installation and setup must be done by a technician.

There is no need for any special operating materials when using the SurfaceCleaner-100 on a daily basis: Only tap water and electricity are needed.

Depending on the amount of  SC-water produced, the salt in the softener has to be checked and re-filled.

6

How often does the SurfaceCleaner-100 need to be serviced?

The SurfaceCleaner-100 contains no components that will wear out quickly. Therefore, there is no special need to schedule short-term maintenance intervals.

A regular inspection at an interval of every six months is recommended. The interval depends on the area of application and is to be arranged with the respective distributor or directly with the staff at pro aqua Diamantelektroden Produktion GmbH.

7

What is SC-water

SC-water is a liquid for cleaning and disinfection with an oxidant content of 100mg/L.

It offers a strong antibacterial, fungicidal and virucidal effect and can be used for the cleaning and disinfection of nearly all surfaces.

8

How does the production of  SC-water work?

Ordinary tap water is channelled through a specially modified softener where it is decalcified.

Thus modified, the water is then enriched with salt in the SurfaceCleaner-100’s main component. Afterwards electrolysis via boron-doped diamonds is performed, producing the cleaning and disinfection liquid called SC-water.

This process is started by pushing the button of the SurfaceCleaner-100. As much SC-water as is currently needed is produced on demand within seconds and can be filled into any container.

9

Does using the SC-water require special containers?

SC-water can be filled into any container suitable for cleaning or disinfection products, such as spray bottles, buckets, floor cleaning machines, canisters or other such containers.

SC-water is suitable for cleaning and disinfection in the private, public and industrial cleaning sectors.

10

How long will SC-water filled into a container be suitable for cleaning and disinfection?

It is recommended not to produce more than the currently needed amount of SC-water. Generally, SC-water stays activated and is suitable for cleaning and disinfection for at least 5 weeks, when stored in a cool environment and out of direct sunlight.

11

Has the cleaning and disinfection performance of SC-water been verified?

The cleaning and disinfection effect of SC-water has been scientifically proven pursuant to European standards EN 1276 and EN 14476.

Practical tests on the effects were conducted in care homes, universities and hotels to produce comparisons with standard cleaning and disinfection products using ATP measurements. During all phases of the testing, SC-water performed significantly better in most testing than any other cleaning and disinfection product.

12

Is there a need to add other chemical cleaning or disinfection products?

No, there is no need to mix SC-water with any other cleaning and disinfection products on “clean surfaces”. Due to the chemical ingredients in SC-water, mixing it with other chemicals is not permitted. Please refer to our User Manual for further information.

13

When is SC-water not suitable?

SC-water can not be used as descaling agent due to the fact, that it is a basic solution (pH value of 8.5). Also strong fat layers can not be removed with SC-water.

SC-water can be used in the field of "general cleaning", especially on a daily basis, where cleanliness and disinfection are necassary.

14

What kind of surfaces may be cleaned using SC-water?

The SurfaceCleaner-100’s SC-water is suitable for cleaning all solid, not porous and flat surfaces such as floors, glass, walls, machines, handles, brackets, banisters, buttons, handrails, sanitary facilities, bathroom fittings, workstations, workbenches and many others.

Test the product on an inconspicuous spot before cleaning a large area.

15

Does SC-water require special disposal?

No, the SurfaceCleaner-100’s SC-water can be disposed of into the sewage system.

16

Is SC-water dangerous for operators?

No, SC-water is not dangerous in use. Just as with any other cleaning product, SC-water should not get into eyes of operator and is not suitable for drinking. SC-water is not drinking water. Wearing gloves is recommended for long-term use.

17

Do the operators need special training prior to using the SurfaceCleaner-100?

Operators do not require special training prior to using the SurfaceCleaner-100. There need only be a short basic instruction given according to the following steps:

1) Open water tap

2) Switch on SC-100 main switch

3) Push START-button for production

4) Use pipe to fill SC-water into container

18

What is electrolysis?

Please visit our homepage proaqua.at for further information on electrolysis and boron-doped diamond electrodes.

19

What are the costs for 1 liter of SC-water?

The costs to be calculated for 1 liter of SC-water are based on investing in an SurfaceCleaner-100 and the cost of tap water per liter.

The total price per liter of SC-water is definitely less than €1/liter, particularly if it is used rarely. For further information about product, its technology and prices please contact us.

20

Can the SC-water be mixed with acidic cleaning agents?

No, do not mix with acidic cleaning agents. The SC-water has a basic pH of 8.5. Acidic cleaning agents shift the pH value from 8.5 to the acidic range (pH <7). From a pH value of <5, chlorine gas is released.
